It is a day to honour residential school Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and acknowledge the lasting impact of residential schools on First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, families, and communities.

The message “Every Child Matters” reminds us that remembrance must be accompanied by listening and learning.

Truth and reconciliation is not limited to one day each year. It is an ongoing responsibility to learn the history of residential schools, listen to Indigenous voices and experiences, recognize the strength and resilience of Indigenous communities, and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation.

Today, we remember.
Today, we listen.
Today, we reflect.
And we carry that commitment forward.

Every Child Matters. 🧡
